PE and Sport Premium
At Cowlersley Primary School we recognise the valuable contribution of PE to the health and physical and emotional wellbeing of the children. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude, self esteem and academic achievement of all our children.
Primary School Sport Funding enables us to continue to further develop and extend our provision by employing additional sports professionals, entering into sports competitions and training our staff to deliver high quality in-house PE sessions.
What is PE and Sport Premium funding?
The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the departments for education, health and culture, media and sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend money on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Each school receives £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the academic years 2013/14 to 2016/17. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in school.
Sports Events and After School Clubs
The children enjoy participating in a wide range of competitive sports including football, tennis and basketball.
Lunchtime and after school clubs
We offer a wide variety of lunchtime and after school sports clubs including netball, circus skills, Yoga Bugs, Dance Crew, Little Ninjas, parkour and archery.
